Shipping & Receiving Lead
Department: Operations Reports To: VP of Operations, Warehouse Fulfillment Lead (Direct)
Location: 95 Valley Street, Bristol, CT 06010 Employment Type: Full-Time, Hourly Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 7AM 3:30 PM, with occasional weekend/overtime as needed.

Position Summary
The Shipping & Receiving Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily inbound and outbound
flow of raw materials and finished frozen pet food products, along with order coordination and
communication, assisting with order fulfillment, and inventory management. This role ensures
accurate, timely, and food-safety-compliant handling of all shipments. The ideal candidate has
strong attention to detail, experience in shipping & receiving and/or warehouse work, and the
willingness to learn new skills and procedures as they arise.
Key Responsibilities
Shipping & Receiving Operations
● Lead and coordinate daily shipping and receiving activities, ensuring accuracy of
incoming raw materials, packaging, and outgoing finished product orders
● Verify shipments against purchase orders, bills of lading, and pick tickets; resolve
discrepancies promptly
● Maintain proper cold chain protocols throughout loading/unloading to preserve product
integrity (frozen and refrigerated raw pet food)
● Coordinate inbound/outbound carrier appointments, dock utilization, and proper shipping
documents
● Communicate with the remote sales, operations, and data teams to ensure sales and
purchase orders are current and accurate
● Operate and/or oversee use of forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling
equipment
● Participate in scheduled inventory counts throughout the year
Team Leadership
● Serve as the primary point of contact on the floor for shipping/receiving questions and
issues
● Enforce safety protocols, GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), and food safety
standards at all times
● Provide feedback and support performance management in partnership with the
Warehouse Fulfillment Lead
Documentation
● Maintain and organize sales and purchase orders using Netsuite and other applicable
software
● Ensure proper lot tracking and traceability for all raw materials and finished goods in
compliance with food safety and SOPs
● Complete and manage all required shipping/receiving documentation, including BOLs,
packing slips, etc
● Flag and quarantine any damaged, mislabeled, or out-of-spec product per company
SOPs
Compliance & Quality
● Uphold USDA, FDA, and AAFCO-relevant food safety practices specific product, raw
material and packaging handling
● Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment in accordance with
company policy
Qualifications
Required
● Minimum 1 year of shipping/receiving experience in a warehouse or distribution
environment
● Basic proficiency with Google suite (Gmail, Gchat, Google sheets, etc)
● Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly around lot codes,
expiration dates, and traceability
● Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and work in both warehouse and cold/freezer
environments
● Reliable, punctual, and able to work a physically active, fast-paced schedule
● Positive attitude and desire to learn new skills and procedures as they arise
Preferred
● Experience working in a cold storage, frozen, refrigerated, or perishable goods
environment
● Experience in food manufacturing, pet food, meat processing, or a similarly regulated
industry
● Familiarity with HACCP, SQF, GMP, or other food safety certification programs
● Experience working with ERP systems, such as Netsuite
● Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
Physical Requirements
● Ability to work in both warehouse and cold/freezer environments for extended periods
● Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout an 8+ hour shift
● Comfortable operating powered industrial trucks (forklifts, pallet jacks)
