The Role
As a HVAC Installer/Lead, you're the go-to expert for complex, high-end residential HVAC installations. You lead installations, execute premium system replacements, troubleshoot on-the-fly challenges, and ensure every job is completed to perfection—on time, on budget, and beyond customer expectations.
You're not just installing equipment. You're delivering comfort, efficiency, and peace of mind to families across Sarasota and Manatee counties. What You'll Do
Lead Complex HVAC Installations
- Lead and execute complete HVAC system replacements, retrofits, and new installations
- Install residential air conditioning systems, heat pumps, furnaces, air handlers, ductwork, and controls
- Size, install, and configure high-efficiency equipment including variable speed systems, multi-zone systems, and smart thermostats
- Perform duct modifications, replacements, and complete redesigns to optimize airflow and efficiency
- Install condensate pumps, UV lights, air purifiers, humidifiers, and other IAQ equipment
- Ensure all installations meet manufacturer specifications, building codes, and Comfort Experts quality standards
Technical Execution & Quality Control
- Read and interpret blueprints, load calculations, equipment specs, and installation plans
- Perform precise refrigerant charging, system startup, and commissioning
- Install electrical disconnects, line sets, drain lines, and condensate drains to code
- Test system performance, airflow, temperature differential, and refrigerant pressures
- Troubleshoot installation challenges (electrical issues, ductwork problems, clearance constraints, structural obstacles)
- Conduct final quality inspection before customer walkthrough
- Ensure job site is clean, protected, and left better than you foundIt
Customer Interaction & Satisfaction
- Communicate professionally with homeowners throughout the installation process
- Explain system operation, maintenance requirements, and warranty information
- Walk customers through new equipment, thermostats, and smart controls
- Answer questions and address concerns with patience and expertise
- Ensure complete customer satisfaction before leaving the job site
- Represent Comfort Experts with integrity, professionalism, and pride
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all OSHA safety standards and company safety protocols
- Ensure proper use of PPE, ladders, lifts, and tools on every job
- Identify and mitigate job site hazards (electrical, fall risks, refrigerant handling)
- Pull permits and coordinate inspections as required
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
- Report safety concerns or incidents immediately
Documentation & Accountability
- Document all work performed in ServiceTitan with accuracy and completeness
- Capture before/after photos of installations
- Complete installation checklists, startup reports, and warranty registration
- Track materials used and ensure accurate inventory management
- Communicate any scope changes, add-ons, or customer requests to sales/management
- Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment in excellent condition
What You Bring
Experience & Skills:
- 3-7+ years residential HVAC installation experience
- Proven track record leading installation crews or working independently on complex jobs
- Expert-level knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration cycles, ductwork design, and airflow principles
- Experience installing high-efficiency equipment, variable speed systems, multi-zone systems, and smart controls
- Strong electrical skills—can wire disconnects, thermostats, and control boards confidently
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve installation challenges on the fly
- Excellent communication skills with customers and crew members
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and pride in craftsmanship
Certifications & Licenses:
- EPA Universal Certification (required)
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record (required)
- OSHA 10 or 30 (preferred)
- NATE certification (preferred)
- Manufacturer certifications (Daikin, Carrier, Trane, Lennox, etc.) a plus
- Florida HVAC license (preferred but not required)
Requirements:
- Ability to lift 75+ lbs regularly and move heavy equipment
- Comfortable working in attics, crawl spaces, on roofs, and in extreme weather conditions (heat, humidity, cold)
- Physically capable of climbing ladders, carrying equipment, and working in tight spaces
- Own basic hand tools (company provides specialty tools and equipment)
- Reliable transportation to shop/job sites (company vehicle provided for job site work)
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Clean background check (you're entering customers' homes daily)
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical degree or trade school a plus)
Bonus Points:
- Experience with Daikin equipment (we're a Daikin Comfort Pro)
- Familiarity with ThermoGrid, Housecall Pro, or similar platforms
- Knowledge of Sarasota/Manatee County building codes and permitting
- Active participation in trade organizations or continuing education
- Experience training or mentoring junior technicians
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50-75 lbs regularly
- Comfortable working in attics, crawl spaces, on roofs, and in confined spaces
- Ability to work in extreme heat, cold, and varying weather conditions
- Capable of standing, kneeling, bending, climbing ladders, and working at heights
- Valid driver's license and ability to drive company vehicle daily

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
