ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:
The School of Nursing, located in the Health Science Building, is a busy, welcoming place where students begin—and advance—their nursing careers. We offer several pathways, including the Associate Degree in Nursing, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, RN-to-BSN, and Master of Science in Nursing. Each program is designed to support learners at different stages of their professional journey, and together they create a vibrant, student-focused community.
Because the School is such an active hub, the nursing office plays a big role in keeping everything running smoothly. It’s often the first stop for students, faculty, and visitors, and the team provides friendly guidance, answers questions, and helps people get where they need to go. Day-to-day work includes greeting customers, managing phone calls, organizing files, sorting mail, keeping bulletin boards updated, and supporting communication through tools like Word, Excel, and Outlook.
The office also supports the hands-on learning that makes nursing education so unique. Staff help prepare skills labs, assist the Lab Coordinator, transport supplies to the Simulation Lab on the East Campus of SOMC, and keep an eye on both office and lab inventories. All of these efforts help create a smooth, supportive environment where students can focus on learning and faculty can focus on teaching.
