Nurse-Trainer
Visions for Creative Housing Solutions is a leader in providing permanent, secure, comprehensively-supported housing to adults with developmental differences in the Upper Valley. Visions’ nationally-recognized model has proven to promote self-determination, autonomy, independence, self-worth, and well-being by providing tailored, person-centered support that fosters growth and helps our clients thrive. Living among a caring circle of friends, with individualized, wrap-around services, allows each individual to lead an engaged and fulfilling life. Our clients participate actively in the community, including in competitive employment, volunteering, exercise and countless leisure activities.
We currently serve over thirty individuals residing on campuses in Hanover, Enfield, and Lebanon, New Hampshire. Our clients range from highly independent to requiring full-time, 1-1 support. Each of our clients lives in an independent apartment, alone or with a roommate, with access to on-site communal spaces, including family-style kitchens and dining.
All of our clients keep up to date with medical and dental care. Some of our clients self-administer medications; some require administration by staff. We presently serve five individuals who use wheelchairs.
The Nurse-Trainer role is a creation of New Hampshire statute, an element of State's system for care of those with developmental disabilities. Nurse-Trainers are RNs who have received additional training, provided by the State once a candidate has been hired by Visions.
At the direction of Visions' Compliance Manager, the Nurse-Trainer is responsible for training, supervising, and documenting medical administration by staff, translating physicians’ orders into actionable protocols for staff, satisfying Visions’ certification and other regulatory obligations as those relate to health care, serving as a resource to advise staff as acute client health issues arise, and overseeing the healthcare of clients generally.
Experience has shown the position to comprise roughly 60% administrative duties, 35% training, and 5% direct care.
