A Day in the Life of a Wellness Director:
As the community's lead nurse, you'll oversee resident assessments and service plans, manage medication administration, and train and develop a clinical team of 30-40 caregivers and nursing staff. You'll partner closely with an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) and work hand-in-hand with the Executive Director to make sure residents and their families feel genuinely cared for — not just clinically, but personally. This is a community known internally as "the innovators," where new programs are piloted before rolling out company-wide, so your work here has real impact beyond just one building.
Responsibilities include:
- Conducting resident assessments and developing individualized service plans
- Overseeing medication management and compliance across the community
- Training, developing, and leading a clinical team of Medication Technicians and caregiving staff
- Ensuring compliance with state and legal requirements for resident and family services
- Partnering with the ADON to manage day-to-day nursing operations
- Serving as a key point of contact for residents, families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals
- Participating in an on-call rotation (one week on/one week off), primarily handling phone-based triage for medication questions, falls, and end-of-life situations
- Stepping in hands-on as needed during rare emergencies
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Active Utah nursing license in good standing
- Current CPR and First Aid certification
- 1+ years of recent experience in Skilled Nursing, Long-Term Care, or Assisted Living (Assisted Living background strongly preferred)
- Proven leadership experience managing and developing a clinical team
- A genuine passion for working with seniors
- Strong critical thinking skills and openness to new ideas and process improvement
- Excellent communication skills with residents, families, supervisors, and co-workers
- Valid documentation proving authorization to work in the U.S. and proof of identity
