The HVAC Install Technician is responsible for the installation, retrofit, maintenance, and repair of commercial and institutional HVAC systems. This role supports a wide range of HVAC projects while ensuring quality workmanship, safety compliance, and excellent customer service.
The person best suited for this role will demonstrate a commitment to superior performance and outstanding customer service. In addition, this individual will be detail-oriented, dependable, and team-focused, with the ability to work efficiently in both independent and collaborative environments.
Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):
Technical Skills:
- Retrofit sites and rooftop mechanical systems to bring equipment and installations up to code, as needed
- Maintain, diagnose, repair, retrofit, and install commercial, residential, and institutional HVAC systems
- Braze and solder materials to connect piping and refrigeration components
- Install and calibrate thermostats, humidistats, solenoids, timers, and related HVAC controls
- Service, install, and repair air ducts, indoor units, drain pans, drain lines, rooftop units, and outdoor equipment
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and installation manuals
- Inspect inoperative indoor, outdoor, and rooftop HVAC units to determine causes of malfunction or performance issues
- Service, repair, and replace defective HVAC parts, components, and equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance services, including drain cleaning, coil sanitizing, motor lubrication, refrigerant checks, and system inspections
- Evaluate equipment operation using gauges, voltmeters, leak detectors, sling psychrometers, static pressure tools, and velocity instruments
- Proactively identify refrigerant leaks, pressure issues, and necessary system repairs
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of HVAC and refrigeration system issues in a timely and professional manner
Organization and Record Keeping:
- Complete required paperwork and/or digital docs accurately and within required timeframes
- Complete detailed and accurate notes for all assigned jobs
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on each job.
- Experience using field service software; ServiceTitan experience isn’t required but a PLUS!
- Establish effective regular communication with Site Management to ensure they are kept informed of all ongoing maintenance activities
- Communicate with scheduling coordinator, general manager, and lead HVAC technician to ensure all planned maintenance/install activities are completed efficiently and at the highest possible standards
- Communicate with scheduling coordinator, HVAC Install Supervisor and HVAC Department Manager to ensure all planned install activities are completed efficiently and at the highest possible standards
- Provide all required job updates on a timely basis
- Monitor and log refrigerant usage within assigned stores
- Complete equipment inventories as assigned
Other Essential Duties:
- Provide outstanding customer service
- Identify and recommend to customers any additional work to be performed
- Maintain company-issued vehicle, tools, and equipment
- Maintain clean and safe conditions in machine and electrical rooms on each jobsite
- Communicate as needed with retail store location personnel to maintain refrigerated product integrity
- Participate in company’s on-call after hours emergency program
- Meet company productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction standards

- Act in accordance with all Company policies & procedures
- Service and repair assignments may be used as a means of maintaining consistent workload when install schedules are limited
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of commercial service, repair, and installation experience
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Strong computer skills – must be able to use smart phone and peripheral applications
- Commitment to performing high quality work
- Ability and willingness to work overtime or weekends, if necessary
- Valid Florida Driver’s License with a clean driving record
- EPA Universal Certification – required
- NATE certification is a HUGE plus, but not required
Additional Skills Desired:
- Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently (Spanish a plus but not required)
- Ability to understand and follow instructions in English

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time
- Bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 75 pounds
- Requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases
