The IV technician will work under the direct supervision of the pharmacist. The technician will assist the IV Admixture Department in day-to-day activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
● Use of aseptic technique to prepare, compound and label IV medications
● IV Certification preferred, but not required
● Responsible for maintaining a safe and clean medication area, sterile room, and compounding hoods
● Assist with order intake and dispensing process
● Process patient orders through the inventory system and verify patient information in the patient’s electronic medical record
● Assist with inventory management, including items such as: maintaining medication and supply inventory, checking stock to determine inventory levels, ordering, counting, and receiving inventory
● Check and maintain clinic patient medication reports
● Communicate with other team members
● Provides services efficiently and in a timely manner
● Assess and record information from varied sources
● Ability to safely lift, move, and transport medications and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds as part of daily job responsibilities
Technicians will also on occasion, perform other duties as required
Required Skills and Knowledge:
● Position requires a high school diploma or its equivalent
● Current PTCB Pharmacy Technician Certification is required
● Current Texas State Board of Pharmacy license is required
● IV certification preferred but not required
● Must have professional appearance, be able to handle multiple tasks, be a self-starter and a team player.
● Must be able to communicate effectively with peers
