Overview
We are seeking an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing high-quality care for our animal patients. You will work closely with veterinarians and other staff members to ensure the health and well-being of pets while assisting in various medical procedures and treatments. Your expertise in animal care and handling will contribute significantly to our mission of delivering exceptional veterinary services.
1. Patient Care and Nursing
- Perform physical exams and record vital signs.
- Administer medications (oral, injectable, topical).
- Provide advanced nursing care to hospitalized patients (fluid therapy, nutritional support, pain management).
- Monitor and document patient progress and clinical status.
- Perform wound care, bandaging, and splinting.
2. Anesthesia and Surgery
- Induce, monitor, and recover patients from anesthesia.
- Perform endotracheal intubation and monitor anesthetic depth.
- Set up and maintain anesthesia machines and monitoring equipment.
- Assist in sterile preparation and instrumentation of surgeries.
- Maintain surgical suite cleanliness and sterility.
3. Laboratory and Diagnostics
- Collect, prepare, and analyze blood, urine, fecal, and cytological samples.
- Perform in-house lab work (CBC, chemistry panels, urinalysis).
- Take and process digital radiographs (positioning, safety protocols).
- Assist with or perform ultrasound, ECG, and other diagnostics.
- Maintain lab equipment and troubleshoot errors.
4. Dentistry
- Perform dental cleanings, charting, and polishing.
- Take dental radiographs.
- Assist the veterinarian in extractions or oral surgery.
- Educate clients on dental home care and disease prevention.
5. Client Communication and Education
- Provide discharge instructions and home care guidance.
- Communicate treatment plans and medication instructions clearly.
- Handle emotionally sensitive discussions (e.g., euthanasia, chronic illness).
- Educate clients on preventive care (vaccines, nutrition, parasite control).
6. Emergency and Critical Care (if applicable)
- Triage incoming emergency patients.
- Provide CPR and emergency stabilization (under supervision or independently if trained).
- Manage critical care patients (oxygen therapy, blood transfusions, intensive monitoring).
7. Inventory and Equipment Maintenance
- Order and stock medical supplies and pharmaceuticals.
- Monitor inventory levels and expiration dates.
- Maintain and sterilize medical and surgical equipment.
8. Mentorship and Leadership
- Train and mentor veterinary assistants, interns, and new LVTs.
- Participate in staff meetings and continuing education.
- Provide feedback and help standardize protocols and procedures.
9. Record Keeping and Compliance
- Accurately document treatments, medications, and observations.
- Maintain patient charts in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
- Ensure adherence to state veterinary board and OSHA regulation

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
