Responsibilities:
Clinical Responsibilities:

Directs the clinical nursing services provided at Children’s Outpatient Program clinic.

Identifies problems, evaluates alternative and implements effective solutions.
-
Monitors program contracts, budgets, staff productivity as directed.
-
Ensures compliance with DMH, Joint Commission and Medicaid standards.
-
Ensures compliance with SAMHSA grant and UDS data requirements.
-
Communicates effectively with the physician regarding the consumer’s physical and mental condition as needed.
-
Interfaces with the multi-disciplinary team and actively and cooperatively participates in development of the interdisciplinary treatment plan as needed
-
Administers medications, observing the Seven Rights of medication administration.
-
Contacts laboratory, requests and monitor results, and reports all abnormal findings to the physician.
-
Provides emergency care as needed (CPR, MindSet, PRN Medications), per AltaPointe Policy & Procedures as needed.
-
Provides supervision and oversight of MAC services and ensures ongoing compliance with the Nurse Delegation Program for the Transitional Age residential program.
-
Demonstrates the ability to recognize the elements of a crisis state and knows how to deescalate or resolve the situation as needed.
-
Acts as MAS nurse for the division.

Adheres to professional code of ethics.
- Effectively demonstrates the application of child/adolescent and adult specific competencies.
Administers appropriate personnel functions:

Interviews and screens nursing applicants when necessary and completes appropriate forms as outlined by Personnel Policy and Procedures

Provides staff training in the general orientation of the facility, policies and procedures, program operations and specific skill areas.
-
Is knowledgeable and applies personnel policies and procedures on a consistent basis.
-
Objectively completes employee performance evaluations on program staff and routes to Personnel department on a timely basis.
-
Promotes concept of treatment teams. Acts as a member of treatment team.
-
Provides positive and effective leadership.

Provides staff with consultation and supervision as needed, individually or through regular group staff meetings.

Ensures competence of program nursing staff

Clinical Record Keeping

- Maintains current state license and requirements for renewals (i.e. CEU’s), and attends the required in-services and workshops
Qualifications:
Possesses current RN’s license to practice in the state of Alabama. Knowledge in child/adolescent and adult specialty, outlined below, to be attained within (6) six months of employment:

Knowledge of psychiatric disorders in the child/adolescent and adult population
-
Knowledge of general and psychiatric nursing care
-
Basic knowledge of medical terminology
- Familiarity of psychopharmacology and the use of psychotropic medications with the child/adolescent and adult population
-
Knowledge of behavior management, crisis intervention and, interventions common to acute psychotic consumers as well as to non-violent crisis intervention practice
-
Knowledge of the principles of growth and development
-
Knowledge of educational methods appropriate to children/adolescents with severe and persistent psychiatric disorders.
- Knowledge of cultural diversity

Knowledge of DMH, Medicaid and Joint Commission standards
-
Knowledge of the standards for the Nurse Delegation Program and successful completion of MAS certifications

Knowledge of utilizing electronic health record
-
Knowledge of private insurance reimbursement
