Position Overview:
KMA Consulting Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Mid-Level Bridge Engineer with 3 to 7 years of experience to join our growing Bridges and Structures Department in KMA's Cherry Hill, NJ office. The candidate will assist in the bridge & geotechnical designs of transportation engineering projects in both an office and field setting. Candidates should have a background with applying engineering techniques, procedures, and design criteria for projects ranging in size and complexity. The candidate will complete structural technical analyses/calculations, write engineering reports, and prepare contract documents. The candidate will also complete shop drawing design and preparation for temporary support of excavation, temporary shielding, temporary supports, etc. Experience with NJDOT, PennDOT, NJTA, NJ and PA Counties and/or other MPO’s is a plus.
Responsibilities:
Prepare project reports, plans, designs, and calculations
Prepare project quantity and cost estimates
Work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects
Help check work of project team members including subconsultants
The candidate must be able to work in a team environment, as well as independently, under direct supervision of a licensed professional engineer
Requirements:
Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university/program
Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification
Familiarity with CADD software platforms: Bentley MicroStation and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D
Familiarity with AASHTO LRFD design methodology and DOT design requirements
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Preferences:
Master of Science in Civil Engineering (Structural or Geotechnical focus)
Professional Engineer (PE) License
Proficiency with structural and geotechnical design software (STAAD, RISA, CSIBridge, PennDOT Design Program Suite, APile, LPile, GRLWEAP, DeepEx, GROUP, SHAFT)
Proficiency with Bentley MicroStation
Travel:
Occasional need to drive/travel to work sites (mostly day travel within NJ with the possibility for some overnight travel to adjoining states). Must have a valid driver’s license. Company vehicles will be made available.
