The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily production activities within a manufacturing site or branch location. This role ensures that production schedules are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality standards. The Production Supervisor provides frontline leadership to production staff, drives accountability, and supports continuous improvement initiatives aligned with operational goals. This position plays a critical role in maintaining workflow discipline, team performance, and adherence to standardized manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise daily production operations to ensure output, quality, and safety targets are met
- Coordinate staffing, workflow, and shift activities to support production schedules
- Monitor production KPIs and address performance gaps in real time
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental procedures
- Train, coach, and evaluate production personnel to maintain performance standards
- Support inventory accuracy, material usage reporting, and waste reduction efforts
- Communicate production status and issues to Site Leaders or Plant Leadership
- Other duties assigned by management
Key Deliverables:
- Achievement of daily and weekly production targets
- Safe operations with full adherence to PPE and safety protocols
- Reduced scrap, rework, and downtime through active supervision
- Accurate production reporting and shift documentation
- Improved team performance and workforce engagement
Reporting Structure:
- Reports To: Site Leader/Production Manager
- Direct Reports: Production Operators
Educational Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED (required)
- Technical or vocational training in manufacturing (preferred)
Required Experience:
- 5–7 years of manufacturing experience, with prior supervisory responsibility preferred
- Strong understanding of production processes, safety standards, and quality procedures
- Experience leading shift teams in a process-driven environment
- Ability to manage workflow, resolve issues quickly, and maintain team accountability
- Effective communication and leadership skills
Working Conditions:
- Manufacturing environment
Effort/Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
