About the Role
Our company is seeking experienced and dedicated Stone Masons to support a large-scale trail rehabilitation project. This is a unique opportunity to work on remote trail sections, constructing and restoring stone steps, retaining walls, drainage structures, and other stone features that support sustainable trail design and protect natural resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Construct and repair stone structures including staircases, walls, and drainage structures on the Laurel Falls hiking trail.
- Shape, split, and set native stone using traditional hand tools and modern techniques.
- Ensure structural stability, proper drainage, and alignment according to trail design specifications.
- Work collaboratively with trail crews and equipment operators.
- Safely operate and maintain masonry and trail construction tools.
- Adhere to Leave No Trace principles and park resource protection standards.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in stone masonry, preferably in trail, landscape, or historic preservation settings. Must provide a resume showing job description with photos of completed work.
- Proficient with hand tools such as rock bars, hammers, chisels, and grip hoists.
- Ability to read project plans, grades, and interpret stone layout.
- Physically fit, capable of working outdoors in varied weather and hiking in steep, uneven terrain.
- Team player with a strong work ethic and respect for conservation values.
- Prior experience in remote trail work or conservation projects is a plus.
Additional Information
- Work schedule may involve 8- to 10-hour days, Monday through Saturday.
- Adequate tools and safety gear are required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45.00 - $55.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift - 10 hour shift (SAT work is optional)
