Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – DOU/Telemetry for an exciting 8-week contract opportunity. This position is ideal for a skilled acute care RN with strong telemetry experience who is passionate about providing high-quality care to medically complex patients in a fast-paced hospital environment.
The DOU/Telemetry RN will provide specialized nursing care for patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring, close observation, and timely clinical interventions. The ideal candidate will have strong assessment skills, excellent clinical judgment, and the ability to recognize and respond quickly to changes in patient conditions.

Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the DOU/Telemetry unit.
- Perform detailed patient assessments and develop individualized care plans based on patient needs.
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and telemetry readings while identifying and escalating abnormal findings.
- Care for patients with complex medical conditions including cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and acute care diagnoses.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments safely according to physician orders and hospital protocols.
- Perform neurological assessments, including NIHSS evaluations when required.
- Monitor patient progress and communicate changes in condition to physicians and interdisciplinary team members.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure safe and effective patient care.
Qualifications:
- Active and unrestricted California Registered Nurse (RN) License
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care RN experience in DOU/Telemetry
- Strong experience with telemetry monitoring, cardiac rhythm interpretation, Acute medical-surgical nursing, Patient assessment and clinical decision-making
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced acute care setting
Required Certifications:
- AHA BLS Certification
- AHA ACLS Certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
- MAB (Managing Aggressive Behavior) or CPI Certification
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous travel nursing experience
- Experience in DOU, Step Down Unit, Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Intermediate Care Unit, Telemetry Unit
- Experience with AllScripts or similar EMR systems
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to adapt quickly to new clinical environments
