Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Millwright Assistant to join our company. The Millwright Assistant is responsible for assisting with the safe installation, inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, adjustment, and modification of mechanical equipment used in our Sawmill and Sawdust Bagging Plant. This position helps ensure reliable operation of conveyors, blowers, dust collection systems, cyclones, bagging equipment, motors, pumps, bearings, shafts, belts, chains, gearboxes, and other production equipment.
The Millwright Assistant will work closely with plant operations and maintenance personnel to minimize equipment downtime while maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient workplace.
Duties Include:
- Assist operators with mechanical adjustments necessary for proper equipment operation.
- Respond to mechanical equipment failures during production.
- Assist with equipment start-up and shutdown procedures following maintenance.
- Perform inspections during scheduled downtime.
- Assist with planned mill shutdowns and major maintenance projects.
- Coordinate maintenance activities to minimize unnecessary production interruptions.
- Identify equipment conditions that could create a safety hazard or result in product damage.
- Communicate equipment status and repair needs to the Maintenance Supervisor or Plant Manager.
- Assist with troubleshooting equipment that affects lumber quality, production flow, or material handling.
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
