Position Summary
Texas Spine & Joint Surgical Center is seeking a skilled and compassionate Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse to join our perioperative team. The PACU RN is responsible for providing safe, high-quality nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia following surgical and procedural interventions in our outpatient surgical center.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and assess patients during post-anesthesia recovery
- Manage airway, pain, nausea, and vital signs according to PACU standards
- Administer medications and IV therapies as ordered
- Recognize and respond promptly to post-anesthesia complications
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately
- Provide patient and family education related to post-operative care and discharge instructions
- Collaborate with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and perioperative staff
- Ensure compliance with infection control, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
- Prepare patients for safe discharge according to established criteria
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in [State]
- Current BLS and ACLS certification required (PALS preferred if applicable)
- Minimum of [1–2] years of PACU, ICU, ER, or critical care experience preferred
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
- Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced outpatient surgical environment
- Experience in an ambulatory surgery center preferred but not required
Schedule
- PRN
- Hours typically aligned with surgical schedule; no nights, weekends, or holidays
