Summary
The Cardiac Sonographer provides high-quality patient care by performing echocardiograms and vascular ultrasound studies in accordance with established clinical practices and organizational policies. This role requires strong technical skill, attention to detail, and the ability to support patients through a safe, efficient, and compassionate diagnostic experience.
Responsibilities
- Perform echocardiograms and vascular ultrasound procedures accurately and efficiently.
- Apply knowledge of anatomy, physiology, positioning, and imaging techniques to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
- Prepare patients for procedures, explain testing in clear and reassuring terms, and reduce patient anxiety.
- Position patients correctly and set up ultrasound equipment for timely and appropriate testing.
- Prioritize patient needs and ensure timely delivery of care.
- Document patient care and procedure results accurately in the medical record.
- Follow infection control standards and identify any potential infection control concerns.
- Participate in quality assurance activities, compliance training, HIPAA training, and required in-service programs.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all policies regarding patient rights and information security.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.
- Complete 15 hours of echo-related CME within a 3-year period.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) credential.
- Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) credential.
- Strong knowledge of cardiac and vascular ultrasound procedures.
Preferred
- Associate degree with completion of an accredited ultrasound program.
- 2 years of related experience in an outpatient practice setting.
- Experience working in a fast-paced cardiology or diagnostic imaging environment.
Pay: $42.00 - $52.00 per hour
