Duties
- Assist veterinarians with clinical procedures, including vaccinations, medication administration, and animal restraint.
- Provide attentive care and supervision for animals in the kennel, ensuring cleanliness, comfort, and proper husbandry practices.
- Handle pet care responsibilities such as feeding, bathing, grooming, and monitoring behavior to promote overall well-being.
- Maintain accurate record keeping of patient histories, treatment plans, medication logs, and laboratory results.
- Support the front desk by managing client communication, appointment scheduling, and billing processes with professionalism and empathy.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols by using personal protective equipment (PPE) and following proper animal handling techniques.
- Assist with surgical preparation and post-operative care under supervision, including sterilization and equipment setup.
- Maintain a clean clinic environment through diligent cleaning routines that meet sanitation standards for animal health and safety.
Skills
- Proven experience working in veterinary clinics or animal shelters with knowledge of veterinary terminology and procedures.
- Strong animal handling skills across various species, including dogs, cats, and equines.
- Experience in kennel management, including animal husbandry and behavior assessment.
- Ability to perform laboratory tasks such as sample collection and basic testing procedures.
- Excellent communication skills for effective client interaction and education on pet care needs.
- Knowledge of veterinary critical care practices and emergency response protocols.
- Competence in record keeping systems for accurate documentation of treatments and patient histories.
- Familiarity with surgical procedures, medication administration, and laboratory equipment use.
