Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Post-Anesthesia Care Unit Registered Nurse (PACU RN) to join our dynamic healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Monitor patients' vital signs, airway management, and overall condition during recovery from anesthesia
- Assess patient responses to anesthesia and surgical interventions, promptly identifying any complications or adverse reactions
- Administer medications including IV infusions and pain management treatments following strict aseptic techniques
- Collaborate with surgical teams, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Document all patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Cerner
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding post-operative care instructions and recovery expectations
- Prepare patients for discharge by ensuring stability, providing wound care instructions including suturing when necessary, and coordinating follow-up care
Requirements
- Current RN license with active registration in the state of practice
- Proven experience in PACU or critical care settings such as ICU or emergency medicine
- Strong knowledge of physiology, airway management, medication administration, and aseptic technique
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or similar platforms
- Experience with advanced procedures including IV insertion, catheterization, tube feeding management, and ventilator support preferred
- Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments and respond swiftly to acute changes in condition
- Knowledge of infection control standards including HIPAA compliance and sterile processing protocols
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and patient education
