American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Neuro RN for a night shift position requiring 2 years of experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Work in the Medical Surgical - Neuro unit within a hospital setting
-
Care for patients with neuro surgical procedures and neuro diagnoses
-
Patient ratio of 1:5-6
-
Night shift, 3x12 hours (18:45-7:15)
-
Choice of 36 or 48 hours per week
-
Uses Pyxis for medication management, SBAR for communication, and Epic for documentation
-
Floating required within or near the facility
-
12-16 weekend shifts required per contract, with flexibility to discuss
-
Manager-based scheduling
-
Contract staff may be assigned to a Storm Team/Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events or mass casualty incidents
-
Active RN license (NC or Compact)
-
Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
-
BLS certification required
-
ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS certifications preferred
-
Neuro experience preferred
-
Epic charting experience preferred
-
Skills in neurological/psychiatric care, CVA management, isolation precautions/PPE, telemetry, non-invasive airway management, nasal cannula, and IV therapy/phlebotomy

Must pass EKG testing prior to start

Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required (pending acceptable at submission, required at start)

Provide medical-surgical nursing care to patients with neurological and neurosurgical conditions

Complete 2 orientation shifts on the unit following hospital-based orientation
-
Navy scrubs required
-
Must complete online pre-start and annual training modules (approximately 8-10 hours for acute care roles)

Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
-
RTO limited to 7 days maximum with no RTO during the first week of assignment; no RTO permitted on holidays
-
Local candidates accepted, though a lower rate applies within 50 miles of the facility

First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Travel pairs allowed if on different units and disclosed at submission

Former Novant Health or New Hanover employees (PERM/PRN/EP) must wait 12 months before applying and disclose prior employment details

Current travel per diem clinicians must choose between travel or per diem status, as both are not permitted simultaneously
