Overview
We are seeking a kind, dependable Optician to join our close-knit private practice team. The Optician will assist patients with frame selection and lens fitting, help maintain accurate medical records, and ensure patient information is handled with care and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines. Duties
- Assist patients in selecting eyewear that meets their prescription needs and personal style preferences.
- Take precise measurements for lens fitting, including pupillary distance and frame adjustments.
- Manage optical laboratory tasks such as lens ordering, fabrication, and quality control to ensure accurate prescriptions.
- Document patient interactions accurately within EMR systems like Revolution EMR.
- Educate patients on optical products, lens options, and proper eyewear maintenance.
- Support clinical staff by taking vital signs, patient's chief complaint, reviewing medical history, and understanding relevant physiology and anatomy knowledge.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations when handling sensitive patient information.
- Maintain a clean and sterile environment using aseptic techniques when necessary.
- Collaborate with retail management on sales strategies, inventory management, and retail math calculations.
- Assist in billing processes related to medical & vision coding and medical & vision billing procedures for all services.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of optometry/ophthalmology, physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to vision care.
- Experience with optical systems such as Revolution EMR or similar electronic medical record platforms.
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures related to lens fabrication and fitting.
- Proven retail sales experience with skills in retail math and customer service excellence.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages, including pediatrics and senior care populations.
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards for protecting patient privacy.
- Experience working in clinic settings or healthcare environments is preferred.
- Competence in medical coding, medical billing, vital signs measurement, and clinic experience is advantageous.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure accurate documentation and efficient workflow. Pay: $17.00 - $24.00 per hour
