YARD ATTENDANT/ LABORER
PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE JOB DESCRIPTION BEFORE APPLYING. THIS IS A PHYSICALLY DEMANDING POSITION THAT REQUIRES LIFTING 50 LBS REPEATEDLY THROUGHOUT THE DAY. IT IS ALSO AN OUTSIDE JOB THAT IS IN THE ELEMENTS. IT INVOLVES EXTENSIVE CUSTOMER SERVICE .
Locally owned materials/ supply house located in downtown Wichita is looking for an individual with a desire to work as a laborer/saw operator associate in the raw materials area of our business. Pay commensurate with experience. Will train in all areas. Forklift experience a plus. Bi-Lingual (Spanish) a plus.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Working with customers in finding material and filling orders.
- Customer service (in person and over the phone)
- Entering tickets into the Point of Sale system
- Responsible for material handling - loading, unloading, and moving material within or outside the buildings to ensure material is organized and maintained in pre-planned locations; forklift driving involved. Forklift experience a plus.
- Cutting material for customers on bandsaws
- Lifting and/or racking aluminum and steel
- Project implementation and completion
- Maintain cleanliness of the outdoor areas around the facility
- Move pallets/containers in and out of buildings as necessary
- Responsible for keeping pallet and container areas neat and organized
· Undertake other duties appropriate to the role and level of responsibilities
- Saw operation and all safety precautions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Customer Service/Sales experience preferred.
- Forklift/ material handling experience preferred.
- Bilingual preferred (Spanish)
- Ability to perform basic math functions
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately
- Must be able to follow directions and communicate clearly with coworkers and supervisors.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and establish effective work priorities.
- Self motivated
- Detail oriented and reliable
- High school education or GED equivalent.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Frequent reaching, standing, bending, squatting and twisting.
- Ability to comply with safety requirements for manufacturing environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently.
- Hours Monday through Saturday – no Sundays or evenings
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions.
