About the Practice
Colorado Brain & Spine Institute (CBSI) is a neurosurgery practice specializing in complex spine and cranial care. We have four office locations around the Denver area. We are seeking a professional, detail-oriented Front Desk Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for our patients and provide essential administrative support to our clinical team.
Position Summary
The Front Desk Coordinator is responsible for creating a welcoming, efficient patient experience from check-in through check-out, while supporting the administrative workflows that keep a busy neurosurgical practice running smoothly. This role requires strong organizational skills, professionalism under pressure, and comfort working within a fast-paced medical office environment. This position requires the flexibility to travel between multiple practice locations throughout the week, so reliable transportation is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and check in patients, verifying demographic and insurance information at each visit
- Collect co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balances at time of service
- Answer and triage incoming phone calls, routing clinical questions appropriately
- Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments across multiple providers
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits prior to patient visits
- Generate estimated patient costs before visits
- Obtain and scan referrals, imaging, and outside records into the EHR (Athenahealth)
- Maintain a clean, organized, and HIPAA-compliant front office and waiting area
- Communicate wait times and delays to patients courteously
- Coordinate with clinical staff and billing team regarding patient flow and documentation needs
- Manage new patient paperwork, intake forms, and consent documentation
- Assist with faxing, scanning, and general clerical support as needed
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient health information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA
- Travel between practice locations as scheduled to provide front desk coverage
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1+ year of front desk/receptionist experience in a medical office setting
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with computers, email, and multi-line phone systems
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between multiple office locations
Preferred:
- Experience with Athenahealth or similar EHR/practice management software
- Prior experience in a specialty practice (neurosurgery, orthopedics, or surgical subspecialty)
- Familiarity with medical terminology, particularly spine and neurosurgical terms
- Experience verifying insurance benefits and collecting patient payments

Schedule
Monday–Friday, (8:00 AM–5:00 PM 4 days, 7:00-4:00PM 1 day ) Schedule includes rotation between practice locations.
Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
