Electrical Controls Engineer — IQAN / Mobile Machinery
Position Summary
The Electrical Controls Engineer develops, programs, and supports IQAN‑based control systems for RagnarTech’s 9400/9700 grinders. This role builds MD4/MC4 logic, screen interfaces, safety interlocks, CANbus communication, and system diagnostics. Works closely with Mechanical, Hydraulic, and Production teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop IQANdesign programs for MD4 displays and MC4 controllers
- Create machine control logic for feed systems, rotor load control, engine integration, and safety circuits
- Design electrical schematics, harnesses, sensor layouts, and control panels
- Implement J1939 CANbus communication with diesel engines and hydraulic controllers
- Build operator interfaces, diagnostic screens, and service menus
- Validate control systems through bench testing, machine commissioning, and field trials
- Troubleshoot electrical and software issues during production builds
- Maintain revision‑controlled software, documentation, and change logs
- Support continuous improvement and new product development
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
- 3–7 years experience in mobile machinery controls (forestry, construction, recycling, or agriculture)
- Proficiency with IQANdesign and IQANsimulate
- Strong understanding of CANbus, J1939, sensors, relays, and mobile electrical systems
- Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and software issues
- Experience with hydraulic system integration a strong plus
