Shift: 12-Hour Rotating Shifts (Days or Nights)
- Day Shift: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
- Night Shift: 8:00 PM – 8:00 AM
- Rotating schedule: 36 hours one week, 48 hours the next
- Overtime may be required
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Industrial Maintenance Mechanic to join our manufacturing team in Dayton, NJ. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing plastic molding machinery and a variety of electro-mechanical production equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills, experience with PLCs, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
An Electrician's License is preferred but not mandatory.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on production machinery and equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair plastic molding machinery, motors, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, conveyor systems, and electrical equipment.
- Diagnose equipment malfunctions by observing operation, listening for irregularities, and conducting inspections.
- Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment and perform programming adjustments when necessary.
- Replace or repair components including bearings, filters, valves, gauges, switches, wiring, and other electrical or mechanical parts.
- Dismantle machinery to access and replace defective components.
- Inspect used parts and determine repair or replacement requirements.
- Adjust and calibrate equipment to ensure proper operation.
- Test equipment following repairs to verify performance and reliability.
- Initiate purchase requests for replacement parts and equipment as needed.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to emergency equipment breakdowns.
- Maintain a safe work environment and follow all company safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications Required
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 1 year of industrial maintenance, manufacturing maintenance, or related technical experience.
- Strong understanding of:
- Hydraulics
- Pneumatics
- Electrical systems
- PLC troubleshooting
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings, schematics, and service manuals.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Preferred
- Licensed Electrician (preferred but not required).
- Experience working with plastic molding or manufacturing equipment.
- PLC programming experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to perform machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance.
- Strong PLC diagnostic and programming capabilities.
- Working knowledge of electrical controls, mechanical systems, plumbing, HVAC controls, and facility equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair both electrical and mechanical failures efficiently.
- Ability to work under pressure and restore critical equipment during emergency breakdowns.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts and overtime as needed.
- Frequent standing, walking, reaching, bending, and use of hands.
- Occasional climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
- Ability to lift and move materials weighing over 100 pounds with assistance.
- Must possess close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to moving mechanical equipment.
- Occasional exposure to chemicals, electrical hazards, and vibration.
- Noise levels range from moderate to loud.
- Safety equipment and procedures are required at all times.
