We are looking for an experienced Director of Compliance & Privacy to lead our organization-wide compliance, privacy, and health information management efforts. This leadership role is ideal for someone who brings strong healthcare regulatory expertise, sound judgment, and a collaborative approach to protecting our clients, staff, and organization.
What You'll Do
- Lead and continuously strengthen Valley Oaks Health’s compliance program, including audits, risk assessments, regulatory reviews, and corrective action planning.
- Serve as the organization’s Privacy Officer, overseeing HIPAA, HITECH, state privacy requirements, and the investigation and response to privacy incidents or breaches.
- Provide leadership and oversight to the Health Information Management (HIM) department, supporting accurate, secure, and efficient management of health information.
- Develop, maintain, and implement policies and procedures related to compliance, privacy, data security, and health information management.
- Lead compliance and privacy investigations, regulatory reporting, and organizational monitoring while keeping executive leadership informed of significant risks and developments.
- Develop and deliver compliance and privacy education that helps employees understand their responsibilities and promotes a strong culture of accountability and integrity.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, law, health information management, or a related field required (Master’s degree or JD preferred)
- At least 7 years of experience in healthcare compliance, privacy, or HIM, including 3 years in a leadership role.
- Certification in healthcare compliance, privacy, or information management, such as CHPC, CHC, or RHIA.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, HIPAA, HITECH, privacy laws, and HIM best practices.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate sensitive and confidential matters.
- Proficiency with HIM software, compliance tracking systems, and Microsoft Office.
