Louisville Food Tours is a tour company that runs walking food and history tours in Louisville, KY. We tell the complex story of Louisville and Kentucky through the lens of its cuisine, one bite at a time.
We are looking for passionate, energetic, and outgoing people to lead our walking food tours. Do you get excited about history? Are you passionate about food? Do you enjoy the nuances and notes of a particularly good glass of beer or bourbon? Do you love to tell funny anecdotes, stories and jokes? Are you the type of person always looking for a stage and an audience? Are you comfortable guiding and shepherding groups of people? Then this is the job for you!
Job Duties:
- Memorize our tour script (some personalization is welcome and encouraged)
- Confirm your bag of supplies is properly prepared OR prep it yourself (checklist and supplies are provided)
- Guide groups of up to 12 along a 1.5 mile (approx.) tour route as you tell stories tying together Louisville's food and history. Includes 1.5-3 hours of talking and walking.
- Facilitate connection between the guests. - Communicate with restaurants and be a great brand ambassador to our restaurant partners
- Guide guests through sampling food and drink at each stop
- Make sure our guests are safe, entertained, and engaged
- Take care of our guests at each stop (pointing out restrooms, grabbing water, allergy needs, etc)

Pay:
- Starts at $25/hr, plus tips - Rate increases as you take on more tours
- $5 bonus for every 5-star review that mentions you by name

Schedule:
- Tours last from 90 minutes to 3 hours, depending on the tour. Private tours can go longer, depending on the customer. - Packing bags, prepping supplies etc takes about 30 minutes of prep before tours (included in tour flat fee)
- Tours are scheduled 1 month in advance (and never later than 24 hours). Guides input their unavailability into Sling, and we schedule around it.
- Various tours run from Tuesday to Sunday, both evenings and afternoons.
Health considerations:
- Guides must stay up to date on flu and covid vaccines. We don't want you running a tour sick, so be in contact with us if you experience symptoms.
- This job involves a lot of walking, so you will need to be able to walk the entire route consistently.
- There is also a lot of talking, so vocal health and vocal care is incredibly important.
