Job Purpose/Objective:
The transportation supervisor holds the responsibility for ensuring exceptional quality satisfaction for customers during product delivery, meeting established financial targets, and efficiently overseeing all personnel within the department. This role includes ensuring adherence to all company standards, policies, and procedures. The supervisor plays a pivotal role in fostering team development, promoting professionalism and collaboration, and creating a sense of pride within the department. Additionally, the supervisor is accountable for ensuring that the department complies with all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. Ultimately, the supervisor is tasked with cultivating a culture of continuous improvement to guarantee the company's success in achieving its objectives, particularly in delivering outstanding customer service.
Responsibilities:

Communicates and enforces the compliance of all safety/work rules in the department, such as dress code, driver seniority, tractor assignment/cleanliness, DVIR reporting, etc.

Maintains responsibility for all established departmental key performance indicators.

Leads staff through effective management, namely sharing expectations, communication, coaching/training/mentoring, and maintaining high levels of accountability.

Identifies and addresses personnel deficiencies and initiates resolution by way of training. Engaged in weekly staff meetings to ensure communication is timely, clear, and thorough, as well as fostering daily relational trust with direct reports.

Oversee the scheduling of all staff, ensuring the achievement of optimum productivity and timely completion of tasks, to ensure delivery of customer satisfaction.

Understands the customer base and maintains a working knowledge of delivery windows.

Collaborate with routers to ensure the greatest route efficiencies

Provides leadership relative to work schedules, payroll adjustments, and approvals for time off

Ensures that all timekeeping-related tasks are reviewed, adjusted, and submitted in an expeditious and accurate manner to track and complete all weekly payroll functions.

Ensures the compliance of all federally mandated DOT standards relative to hours of service, safe operation of equipment, and maintenance of regulatory requirements.

Oversee the maintenance of driver qualification files in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and the reviewing of dates to coordinate the renewal of driver medical certifications and licenses.

Detailed driven in the checking in of inbound drivers, requiring the same of their personnel

Is instrumental in the annual goal setting with senior management and spearheads initiatives that support their achievement; reviews/manages all department metric reporting.

Aggressively maintains the preservation of company assets to maximize longevity of use.

Works with Risk Mgmt. and Transportation Safety to drive improvement through planned audits, CSA and accident reporting, file review, and staying current with proposed DOT changes.

Works closely with operations, human resources, customer service, and senior management to identify improvement opportunities and acts

Utilizes all available systems, i.e., Roadnet, Omnitracs, and Paycom, to fulfill objectives.

Monitors the productivity level of associates, namely drivers, jockeys, and all support personnel, ensuring that value-added work is accomplished and accountability maintained.

Promote team unity within the department by fostering strong morale, teamwork, and healthy communication and holding associates accountable for work performance.
Minimum Qualifications:

Three or more years of management experience in a logistics leadership role

Organizational skills to support a fast-paced, multitasking environment

Proficient in computer programs, able to learn required skills to manage the operation.

Leadership techniques associated with personnel development, departmental collaboration, and elements of logistic best practices to include DOT/HOS rules and regs.

Basic labor law regulations concerning hours and wages.

Must interact with all associates professionally and effectively, a strong communicator
