Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced CMU Retaining Wall Foreman to lead and oversee the construction of concrete masonry unit (CMU) retaining walls on our project sites. This role is vital in ensuring that all aspects of retaining wall installation are executed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards. As a foreman, you will coordinate teams, manage resources, and ensure compliance with safety regulations, all while maintaining project schedules and budgets. Your expertise in construction management and site supervision will drive the successful delivery of complex retaining wall projects.
Duties
- Lead and supervise the installation of CMU retaining walls, ensuring adherence to schematics, blueprints, and engineering specifications
- Coordinate daily construction activities, including scheduling, resource allocation, and workforce management
- Conduct quality control inspections to verify proper wall alignment, stability, and finish standards
- Utilize construction management software such as ProCore, Primavera P6, and Bluebeam to track progress, update schedules, and manage documentation
- Oversee safety protocols in compliance with OSHA regulations; conduct safety meetings and enforce safety procedures on-site
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to guide construction processes
- Manage project budgets by monitoring costs related to materials, labor, and equipment; assist with construction estimating and budgeting efforts
- Supervise subcontractors and labor crews; ensure work is completed on time and within scope
- Use tools such as an ohmmeter for quality assurance testing of electrical components when necessary
- Maintain detailed records of daily activities, safety incidents, inspections, and progress reports
Experience
- Proven management experience in heavy civil or structural construction projects with a focus on retaining walls or similar structures
- Extensive construction site experience with a strong understanding of blueprint reading and schematics
- Familiarity with construction management software including ProCore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, Primavera, HeavyBid or equivalent tools for project scheduling and cost management
- Supervising experience leading teams in demanding environments while ensuring safety compliance under OSHA standards
- Knowledge of construction estimating techniques and budgeting processes for large-scale projects
- Hands-on experience with construction quality control procedures and use of testing equipment like ohmmeters
- Strong understanding of contracts management within the construction industry
- Ability to read technical schematics related to pipeline or other infrastructure components as needed
