Responsibilities:
- Assist customers in selecting and fitting eyeglasses and contact lenses
- Take precise measurements of customers' eyes and facial features
- Provide recommendations on lens options, frames, and lens coatings based on customers' needs
- Adjust and repair eyewear as needed
- Educate customers on proper eyewear care and maintenance
- Process orders for eyewear and contact lenses
- Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, maintaining patient records, and handling insurance claims
- Collaborate with optometrists and ophthalmologists to ensure accurate prescription fulfillment
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in optical technology
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as an optician or in a similar role preferred
- Knowledge of medical billing procedures and insurance regulations
- Familiarity with pediatric optometry or ophthalmology is a plus
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and ability to maintain patient confidentiality
- Proficiency in medical terminology and systems used in optometric practices
- Strong knowledge of ocular anatomy and common eye conditions
- Ability to perform basic laboratory tests and interpret results accurately
- Familiarity with aseptic technique for maintaining sterile environments
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, colleagues, and vendors
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Vital Signs:
As an optician, you will not be required to take vital signs. However, it is important to have a basic understanding of vital signs for general healthcare knowledge.
