Extrusion Operator (2nd Shift) – Printed Solid (Prusa Research Group)

About the Role
Printed Solid, Inc., a member of the Prusa Research family, is looking for a detail-oriented Extrusion Operator to join our production team. In this role, you will be at the heart of our manufacturing process, responsible for the manual operation and monitoring of the extrusion lines that produce our world-class 3D printing filament.
You will ensure that every spool meets our strict quality specifications while maintaining a safe, efficient, and organized work environment.
What You Will Do:
- Machine Operation: Operate filament extrusion machinery according to SOPs; monitor heat zones, tension, and speed to ensure product consistency.
- Setups & Changeovers: Assist in machine setups and material changeovers, including cleaning hoppers, changing dies, and loading resins/colorants to minimize downtime.
- Quality Assurance: Perform regular quality checks using calipers and laser micrometers; inspect for color consistency, winding quality, and surface defects.
- Documentation: Accurately log production data and quality metrics throughout your shift to ensure traceability.
- Material Handling: Manage the loading of raw materials and the removal/packaging of finished spools while maintaining a clean workstation.
- Safety & Compliance: Strictly adhere to LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures and PPE requirements to maintain a zero-incident workplace.
What We Look For:
- Experience: Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred; specific experience in plastics or extrusion is a significant plus.
- Technical Aptitude: Basic mechanical skills and the ability to use precision measuring instruments (calipers, etc.).
- Reliability: A proven track record of punctuality and consistent attendance is essential for our production goals.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to follow complex verbal and written instructions and identify minor process deviations.
- Physical Capability: Ability to stand/walk for the duration of a shift and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Work Environment & Requirements:
- Environment: Manufacturing floor with exposure to high temperatures (near extruders), industrial noise, and moving mechanical parts.
- Status: Full-time, Non-exempt.
