Annual Salary Range: $76,800- $113,200
The successful candidate’s placement in the salary range will depend upon previous experience in a similar role.

DESCRIPTION / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
This position provides strategic oversight of the City’s special event portfolio, including citywide event planning, permitting, execution and evaluation. Manage operational budgets and administers the special event permitting process. Coordinates contract development and review for special events and collaborates with external partners to ensure compliance with City Standards.
Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Supervises the work of assigned personnel, including assigning and reviewing work, providing guidance, and conducting performance evaluations.
- ¿Manage event logistics and resolve conflicts
- ¿Ensure compliance with all applicable city, county, state, and federal laws and regulations related to special events.
- Research industry trends and recommend process improvements.
- Provide on-site project management during events, ensuring execution aligns with approved plans, city policies, and Special Event Task Force direction. ¿Monitor and maintain event timelines, records, and status updates.
- Develop, cultivate, and maintain positive internal and external relationships and collaborate with city leadership, city departments, business leaders, community stakeholders, and event producers to ensure safe and successful events.
- Coordinate and oversee the special permitting process; serve as primary liaison between applicants and internal city departments from application through event execution
- May perform responsibilities of a similar nature and level as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
Experience:
Three (3) years of experience in events management, hospitality, venue operations or related experience.
Candidates must have the minimum amount of work experience. Years of experience are based upon a full-time work schedule (2,080 hours per year). The sum of an applicant’s full-time and/or part-time qualifying work experience must meet or exceed the stated minimum qualification. Education will not substitute for the required work experience; however, related unpaid and/or volunteer work experience may be used as qualifying work experience.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Public administration, event management, communications, recreation, or a closely related field
Professional Licensure and/or Certifications:
¿¿Valid driver's license¿ required
International¿Festivals & Events Associations (IFEA),¿Certified Festival & Event Executive¿ is preferred.
