This position will support the FOIA Officer at the Department of the Air Force (DAF) located in the Pentagon, full time. Secret clearance required.
GGE is seeking a skilled professional to provide specialized FOIA support services to the Department of Air Force at the Pentagon. The ideal candidate will be familiar with military customs and courtesies, possess strong oral and written communication skills, have experience supporting executive-level personnel, and understand government processes, particularly within the DoD. The DAF Government FOIA Subject Matter Expert will perform all functions related to reviewing and processing responsive records, including redacting portions that cannot be released, identifying the appropriate exemptions, and recognizing documents or items that require special processing.
Responsibilities
· Provide FOIA support related to this responsibility IAW AFMAN 33-302.
· Review/process/redact routine and significant FOIA requests, complaints, and appeals.
· Provide DAF eFOIA helpdesk support to include account access, training, request status, or any inquiries from Air Force and Space Force users, general public, and Federal Agencies. Contact with any helpdesk support requesters must be made within 1-business day if not sooner. Log shall be kept for FOIA Hotline calls only.
· Manage/configure/administer the DAF eFOIA System and eFOIA Public Access Link site for enhancement or new requirements. Contractor shall notify MAJCOMs/FLDCOMs/Agencies/Units of outage.
· Develop FOIA court documentation as required and within suspense date outlined for litigation cases.
· Run, review, redact, post reading room/library records and annual FOIA log report to the DAF FOIA Website.
· Process DAF-wide Federal Register notices and rules within 3 working days. Log shall be kept for all notices and rules received/processed.
· Conduct the FOIA backlog reduction review and track/report backlog reduction plan for DAF-wide FOIA Requester Service Centers.
· Process requests for records disposition, records searches and lost records reports for submission to National Archive Record Agency (NARA) as needed.
Job Requirements
- Knowledge of Freedom of Information Act and its amendment
- Minimum 5 years of experience as FOIA analyst
- Knowledge of reporting requirements under FOIA
- Good communication skills demonstrated by written and oral experience, qualifications, and education
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe
- Ability to maintain a Secret Security Clearance
