JOB SUMMARY
The Manager of Digital Communications supports the external messaging of Special Olympics Indiana (SOIN) across digital channels, converting the organization's stories into audience, engagement, and revenue. This position manages SOIN's social media presence, digital storytelling, and is the primary source for internal graphic design needs. The Manager executes email, website, and campaign work that supports fundraising for development, sports, and programs. Working closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications, who sets strategy and supplies narrative and creative, the Manager executes organizational digital revenue goals forward in partnership with the Development team. This position must become broadly informed on the diverse needs and concerns of all Special Olympics constituents.
PERFORMANCE DIMENSIONS AND TASKS (Time Spent)
1. Social Media (35%)
· Manage SOIN's social media presence, including content, calendar, and community management. Work in tandem with Director of Marketing and Communications and company branding guides to establish voice and tone.
· Create strong graphic designs to support social content, working alongside the Director of Marketing and Communications for source material.
· Execute paid and search campaigns, including grant-based programs, search, and paid social, within the budget. Optimize results rather than impressions.
· Promote fundraising and third-party events to target audiences.
· Grow social audience and engagement, collecting strategic information from social performance.
2. Graphic Design (35%)
· Design compelling visual assets for print and digital platforms, including marketing materials, social media graphics, advertisements, presentations, brochures, and branded collateral while ensuring consistency with the company's brand standards, including social media, signage, apparel, and more.
· Collaborate within all departments to develop creative concepts that effectively communicate key messages, support campaigns, and engage target audiences.
· Manage multiple design projects from concept to completion, incorporating feedback, meeting deadlines, preparing production-ready files, and maintaining an organized library of brand assets and templates.
3. Visual Storytelling: Photography and Videography (15%)
● Lead the organization's visual storytelling efforts through photography and video, capturing compelling moments that communicate SOIN's mission and impact.
● Develop photo and video content for campaigns, fundraising initiatives, social media, websites, digital advertising, and organizational communications with the help of volunteer photographers.
● Photograph and film programs, events, volunteers, donors, and participants while maintaining brand standards and appropriate permissions.
● Edit and deliver multimedia content optimized for multiple platforms and audiences.
● Build and maintain a comprehensive, searchable library of branded photography and video assets for organizational use.
4. Website and Analytics (15%)
· Oversee maintenance, updates, and optimization of the website as a fundraising and conversion tool, including donation flows, campaign pages, and event pages. Manage on-page SEO and accessibility; coordinate with external web/IT support for technical maintenance.
· Audit the website to identify areas of improvement; ensure all direct marketing donor campaigns and events are highlighted.
· Position SOIN website as the go-to source of information for the organization and its constituents.
· Collect and analyze usage data across website, email, social, and peer-to-peer; produce reports and dashboards to evaluate effectiveness.
· Partner with the coordinator of donor directed database to establish digital gift attribution, owning campaign-side tracking (UTMs, tagging) and using the resulting data to report on and grow digital revenue.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, digital media, public relations, or related field preferred; or equivalent work experience.
- Experience: Digital marketing, social media, or campaign experience with demonstrable results; Demonstrated experience in graphic design with a strong portfolio showcasing creative work across print and digital media; Experience managing website content and developing email marketing campaigns that drive engagement and support organizational goals.
- Skills: Social media content and community management; knowledge of Adobe suite, Canva or other graphic design software; strong verbal and written communication skills; excellent organization and time management; ability to multitask and prioritize assignments; self-starter with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment; knowledge of grammar and AP style; comfort with data, source-coding, and building measurement; effective team player; photography/videography experience is strongly preferred.
- Technology:Microsoft Windows (SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); proven experience with digital and online communications platforms; social media management tools; website management (WordPress); email marketing platforms (Luminate Online, Constant Contact, Mailchimp, or similar); Google Analytics, Google Grants and Ads; Adobe Creative Suite, Canva or comparable design tools.
SPECIAL DEMANDS / OPPORTUNITIES
The employee fulfilling this role acknowledges that SOIN is their primary place of employment. During regular business hours, they are available for in-person meetings and events and virtual meetings and events and are available via email and phone with internal and external audiences.
Travel (in and out of state), evening and weekend work, some physical set-up of venues, networking with Special Olympics organizations across the country. In-service training provided.
