Dedicated Firefighter Pension PlanRetire with confidence through a pension plan designed exclusively for Miramar firefighters. Unlike agencies participating in the Florida Retirement System (FRS), Miramar firefighters participate in the City of Miramar Firefighters Retirement Plan - a dedicated defined benefit pension that recognizes and rewards your years of dedicated service.
Retirement Plan Highlights:
- 3% Retirement Multiplier for every year of credited service
- Retire after 25 years of credited service, regardless of age, or at age 55 with at least 10 years of credited service.
- After 25 years of credited service, you'll earn a lifetime retirement benefit equal to 75% of your Final Monthly Compensation under the plan formula.
- Final Monthly Compensation is based on your highest three consecutive years of earnings, providing a potentially more favorable benefit calculation than plans using longer averaging periods
- Deferred Retirement Option Plan (DROP) available for eligible members
- Professionally managed pension trust administered by an independent Board of Trustees dedicated exclusively to the Miramar Firefighters Retirement Plan
