Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Estimator 1 / Takeoff Specialist specializing in Heavy Civil projects to join our team. In this role, you will be instrumental in preparing accurate project estimates by performing detailed quantity takeoffs and cost analyses for large-scale civil construction projects. Responsibilities
- Perform precise quantity takeoffs using Bluebeam and other digital tools to interpret construction drawings and specifications for heavy civil projects.
- Assist in developing detailed cost estimates by analyzing labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor quotes.
- Collaborate with project managers and estimators to review bid packages, scope of work, and contractual requirements.
- Support negotiation efforts with suppliers and subcontractors to secure optimal pricing and terms.
- Utilize HeavyBid or similar estimating software to compile comprehensive project estimates and track bid data.
- Contribute to cost control strategies by analyzing project budgets and identifying potential cost savings opportunities.
- Maintain organized records of all estimating documents, revisions, and correspondence for transparency and future reference.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in construction estimating or takeoff roles within heavy civil or infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu for digital plan review and quantity extraction.
- Familiarity with HeavyBid or comparable estimating software is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of construction management principles, contracts, and project lifecycle processes.
- Excellent skills in negotiation, pricing strategies, and cost control techniques.
- Hands-on construction site experience is a plus, providing practical insight into field operations.
- Ability to interpret complex technical drawings, specifications, and contractual documents accurately.
