Overview
Join our dynamic fabrication and welding team as a Shop Helper/Welder, where you will play a vital role in supporting metal fabrication projects across various construction and manufacturing sites. Duties
- Assist with the preparation and setup of fabrication projects, including measuring, cutting, and assembling metal materials using hand tools and power tools
- Perform various welding techniques such as MIG (Metal Inert Gas), and TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), in accordance with AWS (American Welding Society) standards
- Interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication shop drawings to ensure precise assembly and fabrication of metal components
- Operate measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and measuring tapes to verify dimensions and tolerances for sheet metal and other materials
- Use plasma cutters, grinders, drills, and other machining tools to cut, shape, and finish metal parts for assembly or further processing
- Support the installation of fabricated components on construction sites or within manufacturing facilities, ensuring adherence to safety protocols at all times
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment by properly storing tools, materials, and equipment while following safety guidelines
Requirements
- Prior experience working on construction sites or in a fabrication shop environment is highly preferred
- Basic knowledge of welding techniques including MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW, and gas metal arc welding processes
- Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and interpret mechanical blueprints accurately
- Familiarity with measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and shop math for precise measurements
- Mechanical knowledge related to metal fabrication processes and assembly procedures
- Experience operating power tools including grinders, drills, plasma cutters, and hand tools safely
- Understanding of safety protocols related to welding operations and construction site work
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to interpret technical drawings for accurate fabrication
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in fast-paced environments
