Assistant Fruit Orchard Manager
Wellwood Orchards has approximately 70+ acres of apples, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, cherries, peaches, plums, grapes, pears and fall squash as well. Our retail store is a popular stop for our handpicked produce, homemade canned goods, fresh pressed cider, gift items, candies, fudge, cheese, our famous apple cider donuts, pies and other baked goods. We have a petting zoo as well.
Wellwood Orchards is an affordable, wholesome venue for the young and old alike. Our family owned Pick Your Own farm has an established customer base and we continue to grow in the agritourism market with our seasonal community events.
This Assistant Fruit Orchard Manager will perform a variety of duties on the farm. Participate in planting, cultivating, harvest and more. Work with the owners until trained, operate equipment, maintenance of equipment, and attend to animals when needed. Must be willing to learn practical orchard experience every day. Work well alone or with others. Be self-motivated and value working hard to be part of our team. Weekends are required during apple harvest and occasional busy weeks. Participation in our events is also expected.
Required skills:
*orchard maintenance experience
*tractor operator experience
*mechanical aptitude and experience
* understand how to operate a chainsaw and power tools experience
*must possess a valid driver’s license and transportation
*fruit tree pruning suggested but will train
*ability to learn and retain knowledge
*work safely with chemicals/learn applications of same
*Adherence to our basic work standards i.e. attendance, no drugs, trust, respect, cell phone compliance, etc.
Job Type: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8am-4pm except harvest season when schedule changes temporarily.

Starting wage $18-$25/hr dependent on experience.
