Description of Position
*PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A MATERNITY LEAVE POSITION FOR SEPTEMBER 2026 THROUGH MID-DECEMBER 2026.
Teach multiple sections of 7th and 8th grade math classes. Possibly serve as an interim advisor for a group of middle school students. Help run MYP-wide clubs, attend school events outside of school hours, attend regular and weekly scheduled team and school-wide meetings. Participate in parent-teacher conferences in late October. Teach previously designed units in line with the IB’s philosophy, including hands-on investigations and real-world projects...you will be supported by a 1-1 IB Middle Years Coordinator. We are looking for a teacher who can foster a positive, inquiry-based learning environment. You may support students outside of class as needed during the school day, before school, or after school. Generous prep time during the school day, and a warm and welcoming staff who genuinely enjoy connection.
As we are a private school, providing timely and consistent feedback to students and families is an expectation. You should communicate effectively and build strong partnerships with students, families, and colleagues. Prepare to possibly attend and chaperone beginning of the year overnight trip to East Lake (as needed).

The ideal candidate is one who understands and enjoys working with adolescents (ages
11-14), inspires students to love math, and can break down mathematical concepts clearly in an age-appropriate manner. Other desired attributes include a growth mindset, patience, positivity, sense of humor, desire to be a team player, and flexibility. The candidate must be capable of teaching any course from 6th grade Pre-Algebra through 8th grade Algebra I.
Qualifications:
-Teaching experience in a middle school setting; experience teaching in an
independent, international, orInternational Baccalaureate school is a plus, but not required.
-Degree in mathematics or education, and/or significant experience and skill with
teaching math.
-Familiarity with and commitment to inquiry-based learning.
-Supportive, student-centered approach and ability to differentiate instruction.
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-Effective classroom management skills -Comfort and experience with educational technology including Google Suite.
-Collaborative spirit and a commitment to being a team player.
-Dedication to professional growth and participation in school-wide initiatives.
