Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to inspire and support students with diverse learning needs. Responsibilities
- Design and deliver tailored lesson plans that meet the unique needs of students with disabilities, including those on the autism spectrum and with developmental disabilities.
- Develop, review, and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with parents, caregivers, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Utilize evidence-based behavioral therapy techniques and behavior management strategies to promote positive classroom behavior.
- Incorporate educational technology tools to enhance learning experiences across subjects such as literacy, math, and communication skills.
- Conduct assessments for standardized testing and progress monitoring to evaluate student development and inform instruction.
- Manage classroom environments effectively through classroom management practices that foster safety, engagement, and respect.
- Collaborate with speech therapists, occupational therapists, behavioral health specialists, and other professionals to support student needs comprehensively.
- Maintain detailed documentation of student progress, IEP goals, behavioral interventions, and legal compliance related to special education law.
- Engage in ongoing professional development related to special education best practices, curriculum development, and inclusive teaching strategies.
Skills
- Proven experience working with students with disabilities, including those with emotional disturbance.
- Strong knowledge of special education law, IEP development, curriculum adaptation, and behavior management techniques.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with families, colleagues, therapists, and administrators.
- Skilled in classroom management strategies that create a positive learning environment for diverse learners.
- Familiarity with educational technology integration to support differentiated instruction.
- Ability to develop engaging lesson plans that incorporate literacy education, math skills, communication skills, and social-emotional learning.
- Knowledge of behavioral health principles and behavioral therapy techniques tailored for children with developmental disabilities.
- Competence in using standardized testing tools for assessment purposes.
- Strong organizational skills for maintaining accurate records of student progress and legal documentation such as IEPs.
