Responsibilities
- Safely administer prescribed medications to residents or patients following all HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards.
- Monitor vital signs, observe patient responses, and report any changes or concerns to the nursing staff promptly.
- Assist with activities of daily living such as tube feeding, catheter care, and other personal care tasks with compassion and professionalism.
- Maintain accurate medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) or EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems like Epic or Cerner to ensure precise documentation of medication administration and patient care activities.
- Support residents with specialized needs including Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, memory care, hospice care, and senior care environments.
- Follow established protocols for medication storage, handling, and disposal in compliance with safety standards.
- Collaborate effectively with nursing staff and healthcare providers to deliver comprehensive patient-centered care in assisted living, nursing homes, hospitals, or community settings.
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Medication Aide or Certified Medication Technician (CMT), with current licensure in accordance with state regulations.
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home & community care environments is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and medical documentation practices.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner is advantageous.
- Experience caring for individuals with disabilities or chronic conditions like Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
- Ability to accurately measure vital signs and perform basic nursing tasks such as tube feeding and catheter care.
