Anchorage Women's Clinic is seeking a Medical Assistant Supervisor to lead our exceptional clinical support staff and help deliver outstanding care to the women and families we serve.
In this role, you'll combine hands-on clinical expertise with leadership responsibilities, guiding our team of Certified Medical Assistants and Clinical Assistants while ensuring efficient clinic operations and an exceptional patient experience. What You'll Do
- Lead, mentor, coach, and develop our team of Certified Medical Assistants and Clinical Assistants.
- Provide day-to-day clinical leadership and support while helping resolve workflow and patient care challenges.
- Ensure clinical operations are efficient, accurate, and aligned with clinic policies and best practices.
- Partner with providers and administrative leadership to support seamless clinic operations.
- Assist with employee performance management, coaching, evaluations, and corrective action in collaboration with the Practice Administrator.
- Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and training for new clinical support staff.
- Create and manage team schedules to ensure appropriate staffing and minimize overtime.
- Oversee clinical inventory and supply ordering to maintain appropriate stock levels.
- Plan and facilitate team meetings, education, and ongoing staff development.
- Ensure timely follow-up of patient calls, messages, and documentation.
- Coordinate maintenance and repair of clinical equipment.
- Step into the Certified Medical Assistant role as needed to support patient care and clinic coverage.
What We're Looking For
- Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification.
- Minimum 5 years of CMA experience in a fast-paced medical practice.
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in a physician practice or urgent care setting.
- Associate degree required; Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology; OB/GYN experience strongly preferred.
- Experience using an electronic medical record (EMR); Centricity experience is a plus.
- Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
- Working knowledge of HIPAA requirements and employment best practices.
- Organized, self-motivated, and able to prioritize multiple responsibilities while maintaining a positive, team-focused approach.
