Role Description The Associate Veterinarian is a full-time, on-site role based in Dilley, TX. This position involves performing routine wellness exams, diagnosing and treating medical conditions, providing surgical and dental care, and recommending appropriate diagnostics and treatment plans. The veterinarian will communicate clearly with clients about findings, options, and preventive care, and maintain accurate and thorough medical records. Daily responsibilities include collaborating with veterinary technicians and support staff, overseeing patient care and follow-up, and ensuring adherence to clinic protocols and regulatory standards. The role may also involve participation in case discussions, continuing education, and occasional community outreach to support animal health in the region.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent) from an accredited institution and eligibility for licensure in the state of Texas.
- Clinical skills in small animal medicine and surgery, including physical exams, diagnostics, treatment planning, and basic surgical and dental procedures.
- Strong client communication abilities, including explaining diagnoses and treatment plans in accessible language and providing compassionate support to clients.
- Ability to work collaboratively with veterinary technicians and support staff, contributing to a positive, respectful, and efficient team environment.
- Sound clinical judgment, attention to detail, and commitment to patient safety, infection control, and ethical veterinary practice.
- Willingness to participate in continuing education and stay current with developments in veterinary medicine and best practices.
- Experience with mixed animal practice, livestock, or rural veterinary care is beneficial but not required.
- Comfort working in a community-based setting and adaptability to a varied caseload and resource environment.
