Equipment Test & Assembly (Part Time Contractor)

Xi manufactures full-field optical metrology equipment (XiGage, Xi InSitu NDE) used in advanced material testing and aerospace structural testing. Our AI-based software measures material properties in real time, using full field measurement capabilities. About the Role
Xi is looking for a motivated and curious individual to support the engineering effort. This person will work directly with the CTO (Xi) and Engineering Manager (Trilion) as well as the full Xi/Trilion engineering and operations team, to make our products a reality. The ideal candidate has a hardware and/or engineering background and desires to learn more about advanced applications in mechanical engineering.
The role includes the following key components:
1. Equipment Assembly & Test (80%)
a. Physically assemble our products in a manufacturing capacity. This includes fundamental knowledge and intuition of how systems operate and are put together, ability to follow complex instructions, and attention to detail.
b. Test and calibrate these sensors based on optical metrology standards and guidelines. This requires basic engineering knowledge and intuition, technical capability and know-how, or a willingness to learn it.
c. Pack and ensure systems are shipped to customers, working with Trilion operations.
2. Equipment Procurement (20%)
a. Support Xi and Trilion operations with procuring componentry for the sensors. Manage shipments, storing inventory, and inventory levels. Requires organization skills, ERP systems familiarity, time management skills and comfort with hitting deadlines.
b. Own the BOM, negotiate with vendors for product availability. (potential growth path)
3. Systems AI Testing (potential growth path)
a. Support Trilion applications engineering and Xi software engineering for machine testing for AI software training. This includes a working knowledge of mechanical engineering applications, software design and technical intuition.
4. Entitlement Management (potential growth path)
a. Manage the software entitlement for Xi customer base. Requires both strong user knowledge for technical systems, as well as basic customer service skills
About You
The ideal candidate has the following qualities:
1. Engineering Degree and/or prior experience working in engineering companies
2. Certifications as a technician or in equipment assembly
3. Demonstrated experience as a user for ERP/systems management software
4. Strong attention to detail. Team player attitude.
Please note that work or study experience in mechanical engineering, systems software engineering, and aerospace engineering will all be strengths for this role
About the Offer
1. Hourly Rate. Hourly rate $35/hour. Please keep a timecard for billing purposes. Payment is monthly at month end.
2. Contractor Role. Please note this is a contractor role for 6 months. At that time, we will re-evaluate if part-time employment & growth paths listed above are appropriate.
3. Part Time. Flexible within business hours. You can choose which days and how many hours you work (within our M-F, 9-5 facility access), based on your availability and the project's needs.
4. Onsite. This role requires in-person work at our King of Prussia facility, as physical equipment assembly cannot be done remotely.
5. This position is not eligible for health insurance and retirement benefits.
Pay: $35.00 per hour
