About the Position
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Quick Lube Manager to take an active leadership role in our day-to-day operation. This is not simply an oil-change position. We need someone who understands how to manage workflow, set expectations, coach employees, improve sales, and ensure every customer receives a complete and professional vehicle-service experience.
The owner cannot be present throughout the entire day, so the right person must be dependable, self-motivated, and capable of keeping the shop operating at a high level without constant supervision.
Our goal is to build a proactive service culture. Every vehicle should receive a consistent inspection, and every customer should be clearly informed about legitimate maintenance needs such as air filters, cabin filters, wiper blades, fluid services, tire pressure, and other appropriate preventive-maintenance items. We are looking for someone who can increase sales ethically through thorough inspections and honest recommendations, not high-pressure tactics.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the quick-lube crew during daily operations
- Keep vehicles moving safely and efficiently through the service process
- Ensure required inspections and service procedures are completed consistently
- Train employees to inspect and discuss air filters, cabin filters, wiper blades, fluids, tire pressure, and other preventive-maintenance needs
- Coach the team on customer service, product knowledge, and ethical upselling
- Hold employees accountable for performance, attendance, cleanliness, and following procedures
- Monitor service quality and help prevent mistakes, comebacks, and customer complaints
- Assign work and maintain an organized, productive service area
- Help manage inventory and identify products or supplies that need to be reordered
- Address customer questions and resolve concerns professionally
- Communicate shop performance, staffing concerns, and operational needs to the owner
- Lead by example and assist with vehicle service whenever needed
- Help improve sales, customer retention, average repair order, and overall profitability
Qualifications
- Previous quick-lube management or assistant management experience is required
- Strong knowledge of quick-lube services and preventive vehicle maintenance
- Demonstrated ability to lead, train, motivate, and hold a team accountable
- Experience increasing sales through honest service recommendations
- Strong customer-service and communication skills
- Dependable, organized, and comfortable working with limited supervision
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple vehicles and employees
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to perform the physical duties commonly required in a quick-lube environment
What We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate will approach the operation like it is their own. You should notice what needs attention, take action without being repeatedly reminded, and establish clear standards for the crew.
You may be a strong fit if you have successfully:
- Managed a busy quick-lube team
- Improved inspection consistency and service quality
- Increased legitimate add-on service sales
- Trained technicians to communicate confidently with customers
- Reduced errors and improved accountability
- Built a faster, cleaner, more professional operation
Compensation and Opportunity
Compensation is open and will depend on your experience, proven management ability, and what you can bring to the operation. We are willing to consider a strong compensation package for a candidate who can demonstrate the ability to lead the crew, improve performance, and help grow the business.
When applying, please include your quick-lube management experience, the size of the teams you have supervised, and examples of measurable improvements you have made in previous operations.
To be considered, applicants must have prior leadership experience in the quick-lube industry.
Pay: $23.50 - $29.50 per hour
