Duties
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, ensuring a welcoming environment at the front desk
- Schedule appointments efficiently using electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Verify patient insurance coverage and perform insurance eligibility and benefits verification
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes with accuracy and attention to detail
- Handle multi-line phone systems, answer inquiries promptly, and direct calls appropriately with excellent phone etiquette
- Review and update medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies
- Facilitate patient intake procedures, including collecting demographic information and updating health histories
- Support clinical staff by preparing documentation review and assisting with care plan coordination
- Maintain office organization through filing, data entry, and managing electronic health records
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a medical office environment with strong clerical skills
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Elation
- Knowledge of medical terminology, health insurance processes
- Ability to handle sensitive patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies
- Excellent communication skills with a professional demeanor; bilingual abilities are a plus
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and office management software
- Experience working in clinics or hospitals with knowledge of health information management practices
- Demonstrated ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in medical administration is preferred
