Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Purchase tires and related products to support wholesale inventory demands and customer orders.
- Monitor inventory levels, sales trends, and product movement to maintain proper stock levels while minimizing excess inventory.
- Develop and maintain relationships with manufacturers, distributors, and vendors.
- Negotiate pricing, freight terms, rebates, and purchasing agreements to maximize profitability.
- Review and analyze purchasing reports, aging inventory, turns, and sales forecasts.
- Coordinate product transfers between locations and warehouses as needed.
- Monitor backorders, supply chain disruptions, and product availability concerns.
- Work collaboratively with sales teams and operations leadership to forecast demand and support customer needs.
- Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies and approved budgets.
- Research market trends, pricing fluctuations, and competitor activity.
- Assist with vendor performance reviews and resolution of product or shipping discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and system documentation.
- Support periodic physical inventory counts and reconciliation efforts.
- Participate in inventory reduction initiatives and obsolete stock management.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2–5 years of purchasing, inventory management, wholesale tire, automotive, or supply chain experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of tire brands, applications, sizing, and industry terminology preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and inventory management systems.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining strong collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Strong negotiation and vendor relationship management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within the tire, automotive, trucking, or commercial service industry.
- Experience with ERP systems, purchasing software, or inventory platforms.
- Knowledge of freight coordination and logistics operations.
- Multi-location wholesale distribution experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to travel occasionally for vendor meetings, training, or operational support.
