Under general supervision of the Facilities Manager, the Lead Painter will possess extensive experience in commercial painting projects, demonstrating proficiency in both interior and exterior painting techniques. The Lead Painter will be responsible for ensuring a high standard of quality in all painting tasks, meeting project deadlines, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, scraping, sanding, and smoothing surfaces as needed. Ensure that surfaces are free from dirt, dust, and debris to achieve optimal paint adhesion. Covers furniture and removes fixtures such as pictures, doorknobs, lamps, and electric switch covers prior to painting. Erects scaffolding or set up ladder to perform tasks above ground level
Identify and repair defects on surfaces, such as cracks, holes, or damaged areas, prior to painting. Tapes, floats, textures walls and ceilings, fills nail holes, cracks, and joints with putty, plaster, or other fillers using caulking guns or putty knives. Perform routine maintenance on painting equipment to ensure proper functionality. Maintains inventory of tools and assist with inventory control of materials and equipment
Apply paint using various techniques such as brushing, rolling, and spraying. Ensure even coverage and proper thickness to achieve a high-quality finish. Select and mix paint colors according to specifications, ensuring accuracy and consistency. Match colors precisely to meet project requirements
Remove/Install drywall panels include cut openings; apply taping and joint compound to seams for a smooth blend to achieve uniform surface; apply texture, paint, wall coverings or other means to protect surface.
Conduct thorough inspections of completed work to ensure it meets quality standards and property manager specifications. Make necessary touch-ups or corrections as needed to achieve a flawless finish and ensures areas are clean
Monitor and manage paint and equipment inventory. Ensure an adequate supply of materials and tools for each project and report any shortages or issues to the supervisor. Stores, handles and disposes of paint, stain, varnish, and other chemicals according to established procedures;
Maintain accurate records of work performed, including materials used, hours worked, equipment utilized and any additional notes relevant to the project. Provide regular updates to supervisors on project progress.
Follow safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a secure work environment. Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) and implement safety measures to prevent accidents or injuries.
Perform any additional tasks or responsibilities as assigned by management or as necessitated by the evolving needs of the organization.
