II. Nature, Purpose, and Essential Functions
Participates in the active treatment process to develop individualized programs for developmentally disabled adults. Implements training objectives on the ISP and as assigned by the Program Coordinator. Acts as a client advocate. Provide supports to foster the greatest independence possible to behaviorally challenged, developmentally disabled adults. Works unsupervised with vulnerable adults. Must be able to: work extended overtime hours, operate a motor vehicle, walk up to five hours daily, ascend and descend stairs daily, lift fifty pounds to the waist, lift 20 pounds above head, deal with aggressive behaviors, write up to two hours daily, bend at up to 90 degrees, rotate at waist to assist clients with daily tasks, bend and reach to accomplish routine daily cleaning chores, read and write legibly in English, speak English, be exposed to domestic animals, perform basic math skills (add, subtract, divide, and multiply), remain awake during all scheduled hours, solve problems creatively. III. Duties
1. Organizes schedule to ensure accurate implementation of training and behavior support programs.
2. Acts as a liaison between other community resources and the agency.
3. Reviews and summarizes clientele training data.
4. Provides written and verbal documentation as directed.
5. Provides transportation when needed either by the public transit system or by use of private vehicle.
6. Travel to distant assignments for outreach support.
7. Participates in training and staff meetings as directed.
8. Arrives to work when scheduled, ready to work by the designated time to ensure continued service implementation.
9. Adjusts schedule when required to ensure uninterrupted services to clientele.
10. Provides overlap supervision during staffing shortages when directed.
11. Performs other related duties as assigned or developed.
IV. Minimum Qualifications and Work Requirements
1. Holds and maintains a current Washington State Driver’s license and proof of insurance.
2. Must have a vehicle that can carry four passengers during all scheduled work hours.
3. Must have a high school diploma or GED and experience working with the developmentally disabled (or similar work).
4. Must successfully complete, without findings, a background authorization at the time of hire and every two years thereafter or as directed.
V. Post Hire Requirements
1. Must obtain within thirty (30) days from the date of hire, and maintain, CPR training and certification, first-aid training and certification. Must obtain within forty-five (45) days from the date of hire, and maintain, blood borne pathogen training and certification, and nurse delegation core training as required. Other requirements may be added as deemed necessary by contractual agreements with the Developmental Disabilities Administration, or administration of ExcursionOne.
VI. Addendum Items
1. All assigned hours are subject to frequent schedule changes in order to meet client or company support needs.
2. All assigned hours and shifts are stay awake positions.
3. All positions involve close interaction and support with individuals who are behaviorally challenged. Clientele may assault, verbally or physically. All team members shall take all prudent and reasonable actions to remove themselves from the immediate environment, until they are safe from physical assault. Team members will not retaliate in any manner; they may take reasonable steps to protect themselves until a point of egress is obtained during times of assault.
4. Falsification of employment application records, or omission of pertinent hire information shall result in immediate termination.
Random drug testing shall occur in accordance with policy.
