Under general direction, is responsible for managing, planning, and coordinating activities relating to inventory control, warehouse management, or storeroom management; performs related duties as required.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
(Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all of the duties that may be performed.) Manages, plans, and coordinates work activities relating to inventory control, purchase of stock, warehouse management, or storeroom management, utilizing a computer, tablet, or other devices for record keeping;Supervises and coordinates activities of personnel engaged in the requisitioning, issuance, or stocking of materials and supplies used by a City department or large division;Develops inventory control procedures and coordinates physical inventory activities to ensure that real property and personal property within the department or division are accounted for on an annual basis;Develops or establishes procedures and policies governing the overall operation of warehousing or storekeeping activities;Ensures that personal property within the department or division is labeled (brass tagged) with applicable asset numbers;Prepares and ensures the preparation of various forms or procurement documentation such as requisitions, purchase orders, encumbrances, and others; communicates with vendors to resolve issues or discrepancies; Ensures that invoices are reconciled against packing slips for received inventory and that invoices are processed for payment in a timely manner; Oversees the processing of obsolete, idle, or excess stock which may include regulated disposal, auction, or repurposing to another location;Maintains and preserves the security and safety of the warehouse, storerooms, and their contents;Assures the accuracy of the inventory levels related to stock reorder points.

The names of the applicants passing this administration of this exam will be used to create a NEW, OPEN COMPETITIVE, eligible list for this classification. If you are interested in having your name included on the new eligible list, you will need to apply for this exam within the filing period and successfully complete all phases of the testing process. The examination process will consist of a multiple-choice/forced-choice Experience Evaluation weighted 100%.The exam is expected to be administered in late June 2026. Approved applicants will be notified by mail/email of their scheduled test date and time. All applicants must complete all phases of the testing process in order to receive a final score. The names of all candidates who pass this examination will remain on the eligible list for two years, unless the eligible list is replaced prior to or extended beyond the two years. If a candidate's name is certified and the candidate is to be considered for employment, the hiring process will include one or more interviews, a criminal background check, and a pre-employment drug test.
