We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher or Instructional Paraprofessional to join our Education Program. This role supports students with autism in collaboration with other Special Education Teachers and BCBAs, providing meaningful instruction and behavioral support in a structured, student-centered environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and implement educational programs designed by Special Education Teachers and BCBAs.
- Create a well-organized, engaging classroom atmosphere tailored to students’ individual needs.
- Adapt lesson materials and activities to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Collect, graph, and analyze student progress data to inform instruction.
- Implement behavior intervention plans and motivational systems.
- Conduct and participate in home visits to support family engagement.
- Ensure student safety and transport students to activities as needed.
Qualifications:
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in special education, Education, Psychology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Required: Valid driver’s license.
- If applying as a Special Education Teacher, NJ Teacher of Students with Disabilities endorsement is required.
- Experience with students with autism or in special education settings preferred.
- Strong understanding of individualized educational programs (IEPs) and behavioral strategies.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly and remain flexible in a dynamic school setting.
- Commitment to ethical practices and confidentiality.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- Active classroom setting with frequent movement, including lifting up to 40 lbs.
- Requires bending, standing, squatting, and responding to physical needs of students.
- Occasional home visits and interaction with students exhibiting challenging behaviors.
